Love is Love
At the Church of Christ, we teach and believe that all people, including those who identify as Two-Spirit, are beloved children of God and should be treated with love and kindness. Two-Spirits have been acknowledged by Torah for thousands of years. Two-Spirit is the correct indigenous term used to reference any soul who does not express heterosexual orientation.
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another
John 13:34-35
We hold firm to the belief that God does not make mistakes and that His creation is perfect. This conviction extends to all people, including those who are Two-Spirit. We do not believe in trying to change anyone, as doing so would imply a lack of trust in God's perfect creation.
'Love your neighbor as yourself.'
Matthew 22:39
The law of Torah reinforces our commitment to treat everyone with respect and compassion. To misinterpret scripture in a way that makes a Two-Spirit soul feel less than is, in our view, a blasphemous act and a sign of poor discernment. Such actions play into the hands of Satan, whose goal is to sow disunity within the church.
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 John 4:7-8
Our faith calls us to love our neighbors as ourselves, embracing all of God's children with the grace, kindness, and compassion that reflect God's love. By doing so, we can truly embody the teachings of Christ and foster a community of unity and love.
