Mesa, AZ to Remove Grass from Parks

The city of Mesa will begin removing their non-functional grass at more than 50 parks to help decrease the water shortage. This will also help reduce irrigation and mowing at parks. The grass will be replaced with landscape rock and cement curbing.

The project will reduce a variety of factors including the use of existing water supplies, promote water security and reduce energy consumption for water pumping and treatments.

The project is expected to conserve over 5 million gallons of water every year.
