A Case for Social Media Shabbat
What if social media and news websites shut down every Friday night for 24 hours to encourage people to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with their communities, themselves, or nature?
Our world is interconnected 24/7/365 and it is taking a toll on all of us and especially our children. What if parents, spiritual leaders, clinicians regulators and politicians started to the scope of wellness and good governance to include our digital lives? What would that look like?
For certain parts of the Jewish community the Sabbath is a time to disconnect from technology. What if we could implement that type of spiritual awareness into our online platforms?
