The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) oversees a financial reserve estimated at $150 billion. This fund, often referred to as Ensign Peak Advisors, operates as a sacred trust for the eventual return of Jesus Christ and the establishment of God's Millennial Kingdom on Earth. Rooted in the LDS doctrine, which anticipates Christ's second coming, this financial stewardship aligns with the Church's mission to prepare for a global transformation under divine leadership.
The LDS Church views this fund as an essential resource to fulfill spiritual and humanitarian objectives, including:
Building Infrastructure for the Millennium: The development of temples, places of worship, and other facilities necessary to support a global religious community during Christ's reign.
Humanitarian Aid: Expanding relief efforts for the poor and needy, aligning with the Church's emphasis on charity and service.
Self-Sufficiency and Stability: Ensuring the Church's ability to operate independently of external financial pressures in times of global uncertainty or economic collapse.
In LDS theology, Jesus Christ is already recognized as the head of His church (Ephesians 5:23; D&C 1:30). However, His Second Coming will mark a literal and physical return to reign in righteousness. At that time, He will fulfill His role as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, not just spiritually but also temporally, directing His church and the world in person.
At Christ's return, He will communicate directly with the Prophet and Apostles of the LDS Church, the authorized priesthood leaders who serve under His direction. The Doctrine and Covenants teaches that the church is led by divine revelation through the living Prophet, and this revelation will culminate in Christ’s personal guidance.
Christ’s return will inaugurate a new era in which His leadership will ensure that every aspect of the church’s mission serves the glory of God. His plan will focus on two overarching goals:
Fulfilling His Father’s Vision: Aligning all actions with God’s eternal purposes of salvation and exaltation.
Multiplying Resources: Implementing divine principles to expand the capacity of the church and its members to do good.
